The super compact tiny house, located a short drive out of Sydney, Australia is a real charmer. Built by school friends Beck and Reece, the project was an experiment into creating a truly downsized dwelling that still had absolutely everything you need to live and be happy.

There is something about the idea of a treehouse that truly captures the imagination. For builders, it’s a licence to let their creativity run wild and construct something which is playful and adventurous. For years now the team at Nelson Treehouse and Supply (better known as the Treehouse Masters from their hit TV show) have been doing just that. This week we were fortunate enough to be able to visit one of their latest projects in Seattle, Washington.

Alban “Snoopy” Pfisterer is perhaps best known as the original drummer for the rock band Love, which rose to fame in the late 60’s. After his time in the public eye, he retreated to a spectacular property in the Pacific Northwest where he was able to find privacy and solace amongst the trees where he continued to work on new music and art. 

Standing amongst the sea of green that is the forest of Olympia, this whimsical cabin appears to have fallen onto the land directly from the pages of a storybook. Built by the inspiring Jacob Witzling, a math-teacher by trade, the cabin was designed to be beautiful yet unassuming, nestling perfectly into it’s deep wooded landscape.

At just 21 years Old, Milla Delphine knows what she wants in life and has a plan on how to get it. Ever since she was little, Milla has dreamed of living on a sail boat. Converting a van to live in full time was initially just a plan to allow her to save more money in order to manifest her nautical dream, yet in the process, Milla has completely fallen in love with van living. 

At only 24 feet in length (7 meters) this tiny house has been designed to include some extremely impressive features. Built by Asheville couple Andrew and Rachel the home is designed to comfortably accomodate their small family while also being future-proofed for retirement.

Built for only US$17,000 this young couple’s tiny house is certainly an incredible achievement. The home, constructed by Asheville, NC couple David and Catherine, was built mostly using reclaimed or recycled materials and is filled with clever design elements to truly make the home their own.

Beautiful to behold, this spectacular tiny house cafe is a remarkable specimen of skilled labour and artistic vision. Chantal and Mike are a truly dynamic duo, one with a dream of starting a boutique coffee shop and the other with a zeal for eco-tiny house building. When these unique passions were combined to create Le Bon cafe, a wonderful and rare work of functional art was the result.

This school bus to tiny home conversion could easily be one of the most impressive we have seen so far. When standing inside this home, it’s hard to believe that you’re actually in a vehicle!

Increasing rent princes in many cities are encouraging young adults to search for housing alternatives. For Jackie Kemp of Denver, Colorado that alternative came in the form of a tiny house on wheels.

Receiving an eviction notice is a terrible thing, especially when you live in a city like Boulder Colorado which is well-known for it’s fast increasing rent prices. For natural builder Corwin Mandel though, the occasion marked an opportunity to begin building his own tiny house on wheels.

Biologist Gabriella Skollar is a remarkable human being who has dedicated her life to the conservation of endangered, small, arboreal apes known as gibbons. To enable her to live on-sight at the Gibbon Conservation Center in Santa Clarita, California she moved into a beautiful tiny house on wheels which now sits nestled right in the heart of the center. 

People don’t often associate Japan with life on a sail boat but the country is rich with incredible places to explore via the great ocean. Daniel Springett and his family of 5 (plus a dog) have been traveling the world on their stunning 55ft James Warram designed Catamaran but for the last couple of years have called the Inland Sea of Japan home.

Tagami Haruhiko is a true craftsman. It was an absolute honour for me to have the opportunity to visit with him at his tiny house work-shop and home in Nakatsu, Japan to learn about his craft, his design concepts and also the philosophy behind the spectacular homes that he creates.

There is something undoubtedly romantic about the idea of retreating to a little cabin in the woods. This notion has been wonderfully encapsulated by this spectacular off-the-grid cabin, which is hidden amongst the rural mountains of Sakuho, Japan. 

It’s possible that this is one of the smallest homes that we have visited on the show so far and yet without doubt it is one of the most spectacular in it’s design. Japan is a country already world-famous for it’s small space designs, and so it should come as no surprise that when Japanese master-craftsman Tagami Haruhiko turned his attention towards the tiny house movement, amazing things would happen.
