Tiny House

When the City Broke Her Heart, She Built a Better Life in a Tiny Home

After years of stress, city life, and a major wake-up call, Nancy knew something had to change. Choosing a tiny house became the beginning of a completely different kind of life, one with more peace, more freedom, less financial pressure, and a deeper connection to nature.

In this week’s episode, we visit Nancy’s charming off-grid tiny home on a beautiful rural property outside Sydney, Australia. Surrounded by rolling hills, cows, kangaroos, wombats and kookaburras, her tiny house has become a peaceful country sanctuary and a powerful reminder that there is another way to live.

Nancy’s home, affectionately named Tiny Tina Turner, was designed around simplicity, comfort and the things she loves most: plants, books, crystals, natural light and views out over the countryside. At 8 metres long, this thoughtfully designed tiny house includes a ground-floor bedroom, a cosy elevated lounge, a practical central kitchen, a spacious bathroom, smart storage, solar power, rainwater collection and a composting toilet.

After leaving behind the pressure of Sydney city life, Nancy has been able to reduce her overheads, cut back her working hours and create a lifestyle where time, peace and personal wellbeing matter more than endless bills and stress. Her story is inspiring, honest and deeply relatable for anyone who has ever felt trapped by the pace of modern life.

A serious heart attack during lockdown became a major wake-up call for Nancy, helping her realise just how important it was to create a calmer and more intentional life. Rather than continuing to push through the discomfort that so many people learn to accept as normal, she chose a different path and built a home that truly supports the way she wants to live.

This tiny house tour is about much more than downsizing. It’s about choosing simplicity, creating freedom, and discovering how tiny house living can open the door to a richer and more meaningful life. We hope you enjoy the tour of this beautiful off-grid tiny home in the country.
