Rent-Free Urban Living in Amazing Tiny House
In a city like Auckland, New Zealand, it can be especially difficult for young people to get a hold on the housing ladder. With an average house price of close to 1 million dollars and rent prices to match many have effectively been priced out of the housing market entirely to the extent that many refer to young New Zealander’s as generation rent. Cam and Amanda are an enterprising young couple who thought outside of the box and decided to get onto the housing ladder by constructing an unconventional first home in the form of a tiny house, which allows them to live now in their own home in one of the worlds most expensive cities.
At 24 x 8 meters (8x26ft) their home fits into a compact footprint yet is fully featured with everything the couple needs. There’s plenty of space for cooking, relaxing and entertaining, a comfortable loft for sleeping and the home even boasts a fantastic sized bathroom.
Touring this home, it’s open design is enhanced through use of some great small space design ideas, such as folding / transforming furniture and super clever features such as a hidden television lift in the sleeping loft.
The couple were able to find a fantastic parking spot for their tiny house which enables the couple to life in their home close to town, public transport and their jobs. Surrounding the home, they have constructed an extensive outdoor living area, allowing the couple wonderful indoor / outdoor living in their home and extending space for entertaining.
Ultimately, for Cam and Amanda this home means they are no longer lining someone else’s pockets with rent. They were able to channel their money into an asset which is theirs and which will give the couple more options for the future.
