Her Gorgeous Tiny Home Inspired by Nature and Permaculture
There's something truly special about a home that has been crafted with love, intention and a deep connection to the natural world. In Denmark, we meet Emma, an inspiring young woman who, at just 23 years old, built herself a gorgeous tiny house guided by the principles of permaculture.
Nestled amongst the beautiful gardens of a Danish folk high school, Emma's home is a wonderful example of natural building and thoughtful design. Having first discovered permaculture through her own studies, Emma became involved in helping to develop the school's extraordinary gardens, eventually finding the opportunity to build a home of her own on the grounds.
My own journey into tiny house living began with a love of natural building and permaculture, so Emma's story is one that really resonates with me. It's remarkable to see how she has taken principles normally associated with growing food and caring for the land and applied them so beautifully to the creation of her home.
Built largely from reclaimed and renewable materials, this charming tiny house has an undeniably timeless quality. Natural clay walls, warm timber finishes and carefully chosen vintage furniture create an interior that feels wonderfully welcoming and full of character. Every element has been thoughtfully considered, from the placement of the windows to the spacious sleeping loft and surprisingly generous bathroom.
But what makes this home particularly interesting is the philosophy behind its construction. Emma has designed her home to minimise waste and make thoughtful use of resources, incorporating natural building techniques, a composting toilet and a simple greywater filtration system. Even the beautiful sunroom was created using leftover and reclaimed materials.
Beyond the architecture, Emma has also crafted a remarkable lifestyle. Living within a vibrant community, surrounded by nature and the gardens she has helped to create, she has found a wonderful balance between connection with others and the peace of having her own private sanctuary.
Building her home is an achievement that has given her tremendous freedom at a young age and the opportunity to continue learning, travelling and pursuing her passion for regenerative agriculture.
Emma's home is a beautiful reminder that thoughtful design isn't simply about creating an attractive space. It's about crafting a home that reflects our values, supports the way we want to live and helps us feel more connected to the world around us. We hope you enjoy the full video tour of this very special tiny home!
