School Bus Converted To Incredible Off-Grid Home

This school bus to tiny home conversion could easily be one of the most impressive we have seen so far. When standing inside this home, it’s hard to believe that you’re actually in a vehicle! That’s largely thanks to some great design mixed with skilful execution of the conversion, which involved raising the roof by an additional two feet and cleverly shaping it to feel more like a house.

One of the things that I like most about the idea of a bus conversion compared to a traditional tiny house on wheels, is that they are designed to sustain long-term travel and life on the road. This home in particular is fitted with lots of off-the-grid features including ample solar power, water storage and propane to enable the family to live for extended periods while adventuring in remote locations.

Inside, the bus is packed full of features to give it a truly homely feel. Lovely hard wood floors, comfortable couches, a fully functional kitchen and even a wood burning stove to keep the cold at bay on a winters day. The home also has a full bathroom with shower, basin and composting toilet.

The sleeping loft is located at the rear end of the bus and provides a nice and private space to retreat and rest at night. This section has been cleverly designed to also allow for a small child’s room underneath the parents loft.

Together, the Midwest Wanderers Luke, Rachel, and Charlotte travel North America and live an incredibly rich life on the road in this wonderful home. Make sure you check out the full video tour (above) to get all the details on how this lifestyle and build project was accomplished. Hey Bryce,

Just discovered you on my AirNZ flight from Melbourne to Christchurch Festival. Absolutely love the tiny houses that you have presented!!! And THIS bus is super impressive. I just had to google a lot to find it again and send the episode to my husband.

I’m a bit obsessed with this movement myself so thank you for your discovery!

    All the best

Love it Bryce! Easily the most beautiful bus conversion I’ve seen. I shared the video in a blog post today to show our readers too:

Always avoided a bus because of the low roof height.
Raising is the (now) obvious solution.
