When I was a teenager I had a dream of living in a teepee in the forest. Now, I get to live something very close to that dream. Over the last two months we have been flat out finishing the Belle tent and getting everything ready for me to move in. I’m happy to say that I’m now living in the tent full time and it’s incredible! The Lotus will be my home while I finish building the Tiny House.

Low-Cost Survival Shelter Earthship

Because of their shape and the strength of the materials they are made from, Earthships can be built as incredibly robust survival shelters. This example is currently under construction in Te Puke (New Zealand), where local organisation Fruit of the Pacific is helping to teach seasonal kiwifruit workers from Vanuatu, how to construct these survival shelter Earthships. Many of the workers were affected by Cyclone Pam, which tragically killed 24 people in Vanuatu and left thousands without homes. Read more
